GRANT TOWNSHIP REGULAR BOARD MEETING Held at the Lac La Belle Fire Hall 6314 Superior Street Lac La Belle, Michigan 49950 Minutes for Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 Call to OrderSupervisor Ken Stigers called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. and led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. Roll Call
Present were Supervisor Ken Stigers, Clerk Kelly Coltas, Trustee Ned Huwatschek and Trustee Art Davis. Treasurer Karen Karl was absent Supervisor’s Remarks Grant Township has a number of State owned parcels in the Township. The State does not pay taxes, they give us PILT. Payment in lieu of Taxes, it does not equal what taxes would pay and it’s being reduced. Revenue Sharing is 6% less than last year and it may be reduced between 18 or 20% this year. On a lighter note the Fat Tire Festival was held this past Sunday and they had 340 participants. It was a nice event. Monthly ReportsTreasurer’s ReportNo Treasurers report, too early in the month to have statements yet.Utility Board Still working on the Well Head expansion plan with the RDA. No update yet. LLB Compactor: Ned is organizing the key holders for the compactor to have lessons on running the compactor properly. The Compactor has being going out to light on several occasions. DDA The parking lot on Fourth Street, the west side of the Township Park is complete, with a total of 18 new parking spaces. Hunter’s Point: A new bike rack has been installed. Public Safety CH Fire Dept: No Report LLB Fire Dept: One fire call, a tree on a wire in Apache Lane in Bete Grise. Established a safe area and assisted UPPCO. Service Calls: distributed 911 materials to more residents in LLB area and assisted KCRC with removal of a tree on Bete Grise Rd. Monthly Meeting was held on 9/11/09. 911 project to be worked on by Ned Huwatschek, LLB area, Wyoming and Delaware will be left as more material is needed. Defibulator is ordered. Three donations have been received. Rippa products $200. Curtis $100. And Heikkinen $275.75. This will be added to the proceeds from the rummage sale and steel collection of 2 years ago for this purchase. Discussion on kayak sales, the sales have been good. Monthly training held on 8/20/09, ran trucks, and ran pumps on 1& 3 went over running procedures. EMS runs 1st responders: 2 1st Responders: South end 2 911 No meeting Old Business Draft of Recreation Plan has been available, so far only one email comment. If nothing more comes in we will hopefully approve the Recreation Plan at the October meeting. New BusinessMercy is considering and Ambulance stationed in the North End. To facilitate this we need to be able to have EMT’s and 1st Responders. Last spring we had two volunteers to take the EMT training; one has had to back out due to health considerations. We have had another volunteer step up to take his place and be trained.
If an Ambulance comes to the north end, it would be run by Mercy not Grant Township and it would service the entire north end. PERN:
