Drivers training certificates from the state of Michigan has been received for Menominee and Erbish. Discussions held on a mailing to Grant Township residents, reminding them of the 911 service. This is because of the Goodman fire, was looking to find a number to call and forgotten about 911. On 12/13/08 while exercising Truck #1 the fireman had fail to remember that the generator door and generator had not been closed back into truck. He then backed up into a steel pole and jammed the door on the call causing damage to the two compartment doors and the tray slides plus the door jam on the hall. The new Recreation Plan will run from 1/01/10 thru 12/31/14. We expect to have the mock up of the new Recreation Plan to Bill Olsen of UPEA this Friday. Public Comment Not e: Mr. Glieberman was allowed to speak at the beginning of the Board Meeting so he did not have to stay for the whole meeting. Lonnie Glieberman of Mount Bohemia came to the board to discuss his ongoing problems with Matt Arko the Township Assessor. Mount Bohemia and Lake Superior Land Co. both have difficulty getting current tax assessments from Mr. Arko and he has continued to assess them incorrectly even though they have filed action and won. It is a frustrating experience to work with him (Arko) and he refuses to speak directly to Lonnie. The legal fees are prohibitive and unnecessary if Mr. Arko would just do his job. As of this meeting we (Mt. Bohemia) have not yet received our winter tax bills, they were supposed to be out in December and it is past the first of the year. New BusinessThe Board discussed how to work the problem between Matt Arko the Township Assessor and Mr. Glieberman from Mt. Bohemia. Supervisor Ken Stigers said he would personally work with Mr. Glieberman and Matt to try to resolve this matter. Tax Bills: A portion of the tax bills seemed to have being lost in the mail. After numerous calls from people looking for their taxes, it became apparent that this was serious and needed to be addressed. Treasurer Karen Karl was able to narrow down which batch was missing and spoke with the Assessor Matt Arko and had him reissue the missing bills. They were reissued the first of the year.
