Old Business
Hunter’s Point update, of the three signs that were damaged over the winter, two have been repaired with the help of Gordon Gregory, and the third should be fixed this weekend. The trees that had fallen over the trails were removed courtesy of Aaron Rogers. The Bridge at the NW corner of the Harbor has been laid out. Ray Chamberlain and Janet Barnes donated the material for the bridge and Aaron Rogers, John Meilahn and Steve Peters will complete construction. The first batch of donation solicitations has been mailed out to previous donors. We will be submitting a grant request to the Izaak Walton league Endowment requesting a $5,000 donation. The IL WA Michigan division sponsored the submission. We have received a letter of support from Senator Carl Levin. We have not yet received word to proceed on the boardwalk improvements, as the Legislature has not yet approved the MNRTF budget. Mrs. Schneiderhan’s 5th grade class will visit Hunter’s Point on Friday, the 18th. They won a $300. Prize for their Earth Day project and are using some of the money to come to the Harbor and learn about our Hunter’s Point Project.
LLB Dumpster, no headway that has been brought to the Boards attention has being made continuing effort to relocate the LLB Dumpster. For the time being the Board has decided to have more frequent scheduled dumping to address the odor issue.
Ned Huwatschek, spoke to the Board on the need to relocate the dumpster as it is too close to residential property and Joe Langdon is still looking for the property.
New Business
CHIA Trail club requests the Board approve a permanent Trail Head in the
Township
Park
. They had approved a Cross Country Ski Trail Head in the past and approving this year round access would help in terms of signage and maps. Having the parking and public restrooms makes it a practical spot for the Trailhead to be. Supervisor Vivian would like the signage to be consistent with what the Township now has in place in the park.
Dick Power made the comment that the plowing of the parking lot has torn up the lawn and makes it look terrible. He feels the plowing could be improved.
- Motion to have a year round Trail Head located on the perimeter of the
Grant
Township
Park
put forth by Coltas/Karl with signage to be consistent with existing Township signs. All were in favor, motion carried 4-0.
- Motion to pay audited bills and adjourn Barker/Coltas, all in favor 4-0.
Meeting adjourned at 6:53 p.m.
